Chris grew up in Atlanta, GA where she attended Henderson High school. She participated in many sports while growing up: swimming, softball, basketball and tennis.
While in high school she excelled in both basketball and
tennis. As a youth Chris participated in the AAU programs in both swimming and
basketball.
Chris had many accomplishments while participating in both high school and college sports. She letter all four years in both basketball and tennis while in high school. In 1976 she was the first woman athlete from her high school to receive a full athletic scholarship to attend Missouri Western University in St. Joseph, MO. She was the first incoming freshman class of female athletes to be offered athletic scholarships to attend Missouri Western thanks to Title IX. She participated in three varsity sports in college: volleyball, basketball and tennis. To date she is still the only athlete from Missouri Western, men’s or women’s teams to have lettered all four years in all three sports. She was named AIAW All Conference team in all three sports all four years. She participated in two national championship tournaments in volleyball and tennis, and was recently named to Missouri Western’s Hall of Fame in 2004.
In 1999 she helped start the instructional golf program for girls between the
ages of 8 and 16 in Kansas City for the Girl Scouts of America through the LPGA.
For the past two years Chris has enjoyed coaching basketball to youth girls in
the YMCA and the Blue Valley school district.
Currently, she is an independent sales representative for Ashworth Golf apparel. Chris has many interests, such as philanthropic fund raising, golf, gardening and helping young athlete’s develop leadership skills, not only in their selected sports, but in life. In 2006, Chris will assist with the 1996 (9u) team.
