Gayla Soyez
Falcon Head Coach Gayla Soyez enters her sixth year at Friends University and her thirteenth season within the KCAC. Soyez was the head coach at Tabor College before finding her home at Friends University. Soyez feels “...it is an honor being a part of the game, coaching quality student athletes that are committed to a higher standard of excellence. This team’s work ethic and passion for the game and readiness to learn brings a smile to my face and a deep gratitude for my young players. I am very excited about what this team can put forth between the lines if they come in daily ready to work.”
Soyez never takes for granted her playing career at Kansas State University, and the memorable journey of being fortunate enough to play such a great game. She was selected as first team all region as a freshman as well as received many all tournament team honors across the country. As a player Soyez also had the opportunity to play internationally on the Junior Pan-American team, and had the honor of being K-State’s 1st team pick of the 1980s.
Gayla is most thankful for the support and commitment from her family that has allowed her the opportunity to stay in the game she loves. Her husband, Will, farms and ranches 65 miles northeast of Wichita in the area known as the Flint Hills of Kansas. Their two children, Elliot an 11th grader and Samantha a 10th grader, made a new adjustment deciding to attend Goddard High School this year. They enjoy competing in various sports.
